My name is Mitchelle Lucy Musyoka. I am a data privacy and internet governance practitioner. I am currently completing my Advocates Training Lol programme at the Kenya School of Law as I await for my admission to the bar next year. I wear the cap of data privacy practitioner, having interned with KCB Bank Kenya Limited as a data protection intern. At the role, I was engaged in activities like; drafting data sharing agreements, conducting training and awareness to various departments, conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), reviewing contracts with suppliers and data processors to ensure compliance, drafting and reviewing the data protection policy and notices, drafting and reviewing the incident response plan, data mapping and drafting the binding corporate rules.
The experience with KCB Bank Kenya Limited ignited my passion for data protection thus pushing me to pursue a data protection course offered by the Center for Intellectual Property and Information Technology (CIPIT). The course was centered on Kenya’s Data Protection Act. With the wealth of knowledge and experience, I took the leap of faith and began my data privacy consultancy journey. I am a free lance data privacy consultant. I offer data privacy advisory, auditing and governance consultation services
